National Child Measurement Programme

National Child Measurement Programme

The National Child Measurement Programme (NCMP) is a government public health programme to support the reduction of childhood obesity. It helps to increase public and professionals understanding of weight issues in children and monitor trends in childhood obesity.

Every year, as part of the NCMP, children in Reception (aged 4-5 years) and Year 6 (aged 10-11 years) have their height and weight measured during the school year.

You will receive information about the NCMP programme and we hope that you will want your child weighed and measured, however if you choose not to do so you can opt out.

If you child is underweight /overweight, you may want to talk to a School Nurse who will be able to support you in managing your child’s weight. If you child is very overweight a member of the School Nursing Service will contact you to discuss your child’s growth. NCMP Online
